Choosing a career can be a very difficult task. There are so many different things to consider when deciding on a career path that it can quickly become overwhelming. You may not even know where to begin.
Here are three things to consider when choosing a career:
1. Learn about yourself-What do you enjoy doing? What do you do well? What skills do you have? These are all things to consider when thinking about careers, but you might want to take it a step further. Additional questions to consider include, Do you enjoy interacting with lots of people? Do you prefer to work alone? Would you like to travel?
2. Explore your options-Make a list of the careers that interest you and research each one. Find out what type of degree or training you would need, what a typical workday might be like, what the typical starting salary is. There are many great resources on the Internet that can help!
3. Use what you have learned to determine where you fit-Compare your interests and abilities with the various careers that you have researched. You may find that some careers aren’t right for you, while others are a perfect match!
The EOC Counselors at MSCC will help you get started on the path to choosing the career that’s right for you!
