Skilled Trades Worker
This is a full-time classified position: Grade 17.
Qualifications: Completion of sufficient education or training to
read and interpret blueprints, manuals, schematics, building plans,
and/or work drawings and to write work-orders and other job related
forms; at least five years of experience or possession of licenses in
one or more of the skilled trades. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge
of the regulations, practices, and safety precautions and the ability to
use and perform routing maintenance of related tools and machinery.
Preference will be given to candidates with certification or
troubleshooting and maintenance experience in HVAC and the ability to
use basic computer applications.
Responsibilities: The Skilled Trades Worker reports to the
Director of the Physical Plant with responsibility for performing
skilled work in one or more of the skilled trades relevant to the
college’s operation. This position is governed by established trade
practices and institution policy. Examples of work include installing
and replacing electrical wiring and fixtures; assembling, installing and
repairing air, gas and water systems; and providing routine maintenance
and troubleshooting of heating and air conditioning equipment. Other
duties may include preparing and painting interior and exterior
surfaces; repairing office equipment and large and small appliances,
maintaining inventory of tools and cleaning work area as needed; and
performing related responsibilities as assigned.
Occasional exposure to dirty, noisy and/or hazardous working conditions
is required and applicants must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Some
occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.
Salary: $24,131 to $26,308, depending on qualifications, with
full college benefits.
