Biofuels/Renewable
Energy Technology Instructor
This
is a 10- or 12-month position.
The Arkansas Delta is an area of historic agriculture significance
with millions of acres under cultivation. In the past few years, this
production has shifted to support the emerging biofuel industry in the
region. This emerging industry requires a workforce with a continuum of
skills from high school graduation through a baccalaureate degree. With
funding from the U.S. Department of Labor, higher education institutions
in the region are creating a Career Pathway in Renewable Energy
Technology.
Minimum Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree, masters preferred,
in biofuels/renewable energy or related field such as chemistry or
biology with emphasis on a background in biofuels. The ideal candidate
will have a working knowledge of biofuel production processes.
Experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels
the instructor will be expected to teach. Working knowledge of Microsoft
applications required as well as good communication and interpersonal
skills necessary to work effectively with a diverse student population.
Responsibilities: Reports to the VP for Workforce Technology with
responsibility for assisting a cross-institutional faculty team to
develop the career pathway in year one. Subsequent responsibilities will
include teaching courses in the program to both college students and
concurrently enrolled high school students. Faculty responsibilities
include the following:

Conduct instruction
in a wide variety of settings and time frames including some
evenings and weekends.

Assist in the planning for instruction
including developing course objectives, syllabi, and preparing
course materials.

Organize and maintain instructional
equipment as required.

Serve as faculty advisor to an
assigned group of students.

Comply with all policies of Mid-South
Community College.
- Build positive relationships with constituencies in the emerging
biofuel industry in the region.
Salary: $37,500 to $50,000 depending
upon experience, credentials, and contract length, with full college
benefits.
Proposed Start Date: July 1, 2008. Review of applications will
