General Education

Satisfy the core degree requirements for your bachelor’s degree at MSCC before you go to a major university.  It’s more convenient and less expensive, and many colleges and universities have transfer scholarships for students who perform well at community colleges.



The Associate of Arts (AA) in General Education at MSCC is designed for students who wish to complete the first two years of a baccalaureate degree and transfer to a four-year institution. It requires 60 credit hours to complete the degree.

Some of our most recent associate of arts and general education concurrent students have transferred coursework to the University of Arkansas, UCA, ASU, The University of Memphis, Ole Miss, Pepperdine, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, UALR, University of Miami (OH), University of Miami (FL), Mississippi State, Memphis College of Art, Harding, UAPB, Lyon, Union, and Quachita Baptist just to name a few.

Mid-South Community College offers degree and certificate programs to meet student and community needs. Program courses address general education knowledge as well as behaviors needed for good citizenship and successful careers. Goals and course objectives are listed in the colleges catalog under Academic Programs to inform students so that they can better relate their college studies to their personal educational and career goals.
