The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that more than 4.7 million new health care jobs will be created by 2014, and the increasing demand for health care services is expected to continue for 50 years. That means there has never been a better time to enroll at Mid-South Community College to pursue a career as a medical assistant.
The Medical Assisting program introduces you to the overall operation of a physicians’ office and trains you to assist in the examination room, to perform routine laboratory procedures, and to handle financial records, correspondence, insurance forms and other administrative functions.
When you successfully complete MSCC’s Medical Assisting program, you will be qualified to work in doctors’ offices, clinics, public and private hospitals, and inpatient and out-patient facilities. Upon successful completion of this program, students earn an associate of applied science degree and are prepared to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant exam.
