workforce tech centerWith the theme “World Class Geography plus World Class Infrastructure plus World Class Education equals a World Class Economy,” Mid South Community College officially dedicated its $7 million Workforce Technology Center on Friday, March 24. “We are celebrating something much larger than simply the dedication of this facility,” said MSCC President Dr. Glen Fenter. “We are celebrating new resources, new relationships, new vision, and new opportunities to usher in an unprecedented era of economic prosperity for our region.”

Dr. Fenter said the cooperative efforts of MSCC, East Arkansas Community College,
Arkansas Northeastern College and Phillips Community College of the University of
Arkansas are creating a “synergy having a tremendously powerful impact on what we can
make happen in terms of economic development in eastern Arkansas. We hope everyone can
understand the significance of having four community colleges moving in a common
direction to try to create a new economic future for eastern Arkansas.”

Special guests at the dedication included Tadaaki Jagawa, Chairman of Hino Motors, Ltd.;
U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor; Raymond Frazier, Community Affairs Specialist for U.S. Sen.
Blanche Lincoln; First District Congressman Marion Berry; Artee Williams, Director of the
Arkansas Department of Workforce Services (representing Gov. Mike Huckabee), and
Arkansas Attorney General Mike Beebe.
